Jobs in jeopardy after council blueprint U-turn
7:30am Monday 14th October 2013 in Harwich and Manningtree News
LAND earmarked for employment has been removed from a council’s planning blueprint for the future, putting hundreds of potential jobs in jeopardy.
Developers want to build Tendring Europark on farmland to the south-west of Horsley Cross.
The site was included in Tendring Council’s Local Plan at the last minute after councillors said it was vital for employment.
Tendring Council’s planning boss, Carlo Guglielmi, said: “It has been proposed to be removed from the employment land.
“The council had a consultation carried out by Regeneris for the employment land as well as a development strategy.
“In their findings they said there is already an excess of employment land in the district which needs to be utilised."
