Can Tendring tempt tourists away from the pyramids?
9:00am Monday 21st October 2013 in Harwich and Manningtree News
TOURISM bosses hope to tempt holidaymakers away from the pyramids of Egypt to sample the stunning scenery of Tendring instead.
Egypt may be home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, but we've got Harwich's historic lighthouses, Mistley Towers and Dovercourt’s blue flag beach.
Council tourism boss Alan Goggin sphinx that’s more than enough to rival the Great Pyramid of Giza, Valley of the Kings and the Red Sea's stunning coral reefs.
He made sure one of the council’s Essex Sunshine Coast Holiday Guides went with him on holiday with wife Mary to the resort of Sharm El Sheikh.
“I never try to miss a chance when it comes to promoting our fantastic district which has something to offer everyone," he said.
