MORE than £1,000 has been raised in memory of a Harwich stalwart who died earlier this year.
Members of Noah’s Nursery in Harwich are took part in an obstacle course, trampolining and handprinting to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of Les Double.
Around 140 children took part in the sponsored events which raised £1,481.65 for the cause.
Mr Double served as deputy chairman on the nurseries management board.
Nursery manager, Carol Beeson, said: “Les championed the nursery and we wanted to do something to recognise the difference his efforts made.
“Raising money for the MacMillan Nurses was a fitting tribute and we think that Les would be as proud of the children and their families as we are.
“Their amazing efforts have raised a significant sum of money.
“It is wonderful to see everyone working together for such a worthy cause and helps us to teach the children that it can be fun to help and care for others.'
