SCHOOLKIDS are ending up in detention because buses are making them late for lessons, it has been claimed.

Passengers have been left stranded by services failing to turn up after Harwich bus station closed in December.

Harwich Town Council has now raised concerns about the state of services.

Charlie Powell, councillor and former manger at the station, said: “We hear buses are not running out of Harwich, school children are left stranded and bus drivers running whenever they want to run."

Steve Hartman, depot operations manager for First, said: "We are aware that there has been some disruption to some of our routes due to staffing issues."
