HISTORY students were captivated as a holocaust survivor relived his horrific memories from the tragedy.
George Vulkan, who was in a concentration camp during the Second World War, spent an afternoon at Harwich and Dovercourt High School on Friday with students to give them a greater understanding of the period.
Head of History Erin Toleman was pleased with how the pupils engaged with the speaker with what is an incredibly harrowing topic.
“All the students were extremely moved and you could hear a pin drop throughout,” she said.
“Mr Vulkan was just a child at the time and the pupils were interested as to how much of a normal life he has been able to lead since then."
