AN engineering company revived interest in the industry by taking part in a world record attempt to create 20,000 whistles in just four hours.
Stour Engineering, in Station Road, Lawford, was among 40 firms in 20 countries in Europe which participated in Saturday’s aluminium whistle-making effort.
Five workers were joined by Manningtree Air Cadets, family members and other visitors to make 550 whistles.
Organiser Jenna Barker, a welder and fabricator, said: “We had four hours to make as many as we could and I think we did quite well."
The firm is waiting to hear from the organisers in Germany to find out whether they were successful in achieving the world record.
