LIGHTHOUSE bosses are trying to trace former residents as part of a history project.

Sue Daish, who is the keeper at the Harwich Society’s High Lighthouse, is trying to trace three sisters named Latham who lived there during the Second World War after being bombed out of London’s east end.

One of the sisters visited the site during August, and Ms Daish would like to speak to her or her siblings to help build a record of the social history of the lighthouse.

The eldest sister is believed to be Jean Latham, born in Newham in 1928 and is now known as Mrs Hatcher and residing in Clacton.

It is thought her younger sisters are Muriel Latham born 1930, now known as Mrs Bone and Hazel Latham who was born in 1933.

“The story is obviously a remarkable one and a key part of the High Lighthouse’s history,” said Ms Daish.
