RESIDENTS are being offered help preparing for winter at an event in Dovercourt next month.

Tendring Council’s emergency planning team and Harwich Town Council are hosting an initiative at the Park Pavilion on Barrack Lane on Wednesday October 29 between 10am and 4pm to advise how to stay safe when the temperature drops.

This is the council’s third Get Ready for Winter scheme and organisations including the Environment Agency, Essex Fire and Rescue and Essex Police are expected to attend.

Council member for wellbeing and partnerships Lynda McWilliams said: “While much of the information is common sense you cannot take things for granted and we especially have to think about our more vulnerable residents.

“It will be worth people going along to speak to various groups and organisations and it could help them to stay safe and well over the winter.

“Taking the time to prepare now, may save you time and stress later, should we experience extreme conditions this winter.”
