VOLUNTEERS are needed for an annual beach clean in Harwich and Dovercourt.
The Great British Beach Clean event is organised by the Marine Conservation Society and helps experts tackle and understand marine litter at 254 beaches across the country.
Local spokesman David Haddow said: “Apart from providing a valuable snapshot of information about quantities and sources of litter around our coast we will be giving a good clean to the beach we love.
“Marine wildlife will benefit too as this litter is often mistaken for food and can poison or even kill some of Britain’s best loved marine animals.”
Anyone wanting to take part should meet at West End car park in Dovercourt at 2pm on Saturday or at the Maritime Museum on Harbour Crescent at noon on Sunday.
