A FORMER village primary school could be transformed into two homes.

Owners of the Ramsey Primary School have been given outline permission by Tendring Council to change the Victorian school building into two new homes and build five others in the grounds.

Since closing more than ten years ago, the school in Wix Road has had planning applications for a 63-bed nursing home, which was later withdrawn, and a 45-bed care home for the elderly and dementia sufferers, which was first refused and then approved.

But last year, developers applied to bulldoze the building to make way for eight new homes, saying the school was beyond repair – these plans were later withdrawn.
