FRUSTRATED residents have created a new action group in an effort to improve their village.

The Parkeston Residents’ Association has been launched to help revive the village and push council officials to spruce up run-down sites that have been branded as “disgusting”.

Bill Davidson, chairman of the new association, said: “I decided to start the Parkeston Residents’ Association because I wasn’t happy about the way Parkeston village was being treated by Tendring Council and others.

“We are fed up of being treated like second-class citizens. I went around all the villages and there are none worse than Parkeston. We get forgotten and it’s not fair.

“We are one of the most important villages for people visiting the area, but we are left with nothing."

Carlo Guglielmi, Tendring Council’s planning boss, said it had not forgotten Parkeston and was working closely with the parish council on a number of issues.

“It may be advisable for the new residents’ group to talk to the parish council and we can all work together to try to tackle some of the points they raise. I am also happy to meet with them if they want to take up that offer.”
