INSPIRED co-workers will be feeling the chill when they spend a night sleeping on the streets to raise funds and awareness of the plight of the homeless.
Jay Welham will swap his warm bed on the Lawford Dale estate for the hard ground of the Chelmsford Cathedral on November 28.
The 20-year-old Essex County Council support worker will be joined by social worker Luke Goldie-McSorley, of New Town, in Colchester in a bid to raise money for homeless charity Chelmsford Chess.
Arriving at the cathedral at 6pm, the pair will spend the night alongside other fundraisers and the homeless.
“We’re hoping to stay up all night and talk to ask many homeless people as we can,” former Manningtree High School pupil Jay added.
“A lot of people aren’t on the streets through any fault of their own.
“Being out in the cold will make us appreciate being in a safe and warm home.”
