CAMPAIGNERS fighting for the A120 to be upgraded claim it needs £10million of Government funding to take the scheme forward.
The Haven Gateway Partnership is leading a project to upgrade the notorious route between Harwich and Braintree.
It wants a £6million to spend on safety improvements at two dangerous junctions, at Pellens Corner near Little Bentley and at the Earls Colne turn off.
It says £4million needs to be spent on a feasibility study between Braintree and Marks Tey, particularly renowned for traffic congestion.
Steve Clarke, Haven Gateway Partnership director for the A120, said now was time to "make a fuss" with Stansted airport's potential expansion, councils being asked to forecast development plans and progression of the offshore wind industry at Harwich Port.
