TENDRING residents are being warned to prepare for strong winds overnight and into tomorrow’s rush hour.

Tendring Council’s emergency planning team is monitoring the situation closely to ensure the everyone is prepared for the increase in wind strength.

Nigel Brown, the council's communications manager, said: “The biggest concern in Tendring at this stage is the possibility of power supplies being disrupted from cables being blown down; travel disruption; fallen trees; windblown debris and surface water flooding.

“The Met Office this afternoon issued a yellow severe weather warning for winds for our area with gusts of up to 50 to 60mph. Coastal areas could experience gusts of more than 60mph overnight.

“Squally winds with some heavy rain are also possible with as much as 20 to 30mm falling in some places.”
