A FORMER courthouse is back up for sale, with hopes of it being transformed into an international music school permanently dashed.

Barry Myhre, who is involved with a piano school at Goldsmith College in London, had been given the green light to transform the former magistrates’ courthouse, in Main Road, Dovercourt, into a school and home.

But the building is being marketed by Copperstones Properties as a residential development for offers in the region of £500,000.

Mr Myhre’s planning agent has now confirmed to the Standard the music school plans are no longer moving forward.

And with limited interest from buyers, it is feared the former courthouse will be left derelict and become another “grotspot” in the town.

Town councillor Jo Henderson said: “It is such a great shame, I think it really could have been something."
