A PUB built in the 14th century could be named an asset of community value.
Tendring Council has been asked to consider making the Trafalgar Inn pub, in Dovercourt (right), an asset.
Harwich Town Council made the request after being approached by Tendring’s Campaign for Real Ale group, CAMRA.
The pub, which was built more than 700 years ago after a fire at the site at the same time as the Battle of Trafalgar, is thought to have originally been converted from a row of cottages.
If given the status, it would mean the community would be given the opportunity to buy the pub, should it be put up for sale.
