A YOUNGSTER has been rewarded for her efforts in the community.
Abi Holmes, of Gainsborough Drive, Lawford, won the Community Youth Award, run by councils from Manningtree, Mistley and Lawford.
The 14-year-old was nominated for her volunteering work during her spare time at a local Rainbows group and at East Bergholt Sports Centre.
Chris Tyrell, of the sports centre, said: “Considering she is still a child, she conducts herself in a very professional manner in every task she is asked to do.
“She fully deserves to be recognised.”
Abi received a personalised trophy, certificate and £200 for her efforts from Tendring Council chairman Val Guglielmi, Martin Rayner, Alan Coley and Carlo Guglielmi, who were representing the three councils.
