TESCO is set to make a decision over the future of its site on the border of Lawford and Manningtree next month.
The superstore giant pulled out of plans to build a new shop on land off Station Road last month along with 48 other proposed builds across the country due to financial constraints.
Speaking at Lawford Parish Council on Monday, councillor Carlo Guglielmi, who is also Tendring councillor for Manningtree, said: “Tesco are to make some decisions by March.
“It said it is trying to convert some sites to residential use in some areas to maximise value, but this site is on a flood plain so that can’t happen.
“And we would be against that.”
