FLYTIPPERS dumping everything from old mattresses to black bags and mounds of dirt are destroying the hard work of village champions, it has been claimed.

Bill Davidson, chairman of the Parkeston Residents’ Association, said volunteers had been spending their free time cleaning up play areas and campaigning for improvements to the village.

But despite their efforts, there are still people using the area as a rubbish tip.

“It’s a disgrace,” he said.

“There is an area of private land in Coller Road, just off the pavement, and its just a dumping ground."

The residents’ association launched in October last year after a group of villagers became frustrated with the state of the area.

A spokesman for Tendring Council said workers would be sent to clear the flytipped items of a sofa, mattress, black bags and household waste, which was reported on Monday.
