OBJECTIONS have been lodged against allowing a Manningtree pub to be turned into a home.
The owner of the White Hart, in High Street, has applied to Tendring Council to change the ground floor of the building to residential use as they claim the business has become “unviable”.
This will allow the whole building to be used as a home, as it already has accommodation above the ground floor.
But at a meeting of Manningtree Town Council last week, councillors said they were against the plans as it would be a loss of business in the High Street’s primary shop frontage.
Councillor Carlo Guglielmi said: “Personally from my point of view and the district council’s point of view it is going to be a loss of a business in the High Street. “
