PUPILS have been given a hands-on lesson about enzymes by a Mistley based maltings firm.
As part of British Science Week, Year Ten pupils at Manningtree High School learned how Edme uses malted wheat, barley, rye and oat grains to produce flour.
They also learned about the job of malt and enzymes in food production.
The pupils got to taste some of the malt loaves and bread as part of the lesson from Edme technical director Simon Wooster.
In addition to getting young people interested in the application of science, the company hoped to get them thinking about careers in food manufacturing
