A HUGE spring clean has been organised to get Harwich and Dovercourt ready for the arrival of the first cruise ship of the season.

Tendring Council has joined forces with Harwich Town Council, the Harwich Society, and the Town Centre Partnership to carry out the clean-up operation on Saturday.

The area will be cleared of litter and generally tidied up to ensure passengers venturing into the town receive a warm welcome and see the area at its best.

Tendring Council’s waste and recycling contractor, Veolia Environmental Services, is also sending in its hit team for the day to help and remove any items of rubbish.

People who want to take part are asked to meet up at Dovercourt Railway Station at 10am.
