RESIDENTS claim new housing association homes planned for a disused factory site in Harwich resemble a “prison block”.
Colne Housing has unveiled blueprints for 27 new homes on the site of the disused Bernard Uniforms factory in Main Road.
The homes will be for people on Tendring Council’s housing waiting list.
Residents had the chance to view the plans at an exhibition at the 1912 Centre on Tuesday.
Ken Hewitt, of Market Street, Harwich, said: “I think they are very boring – every single house is exactly the same.”
Martin Buddery, of Colne Housing, said the main issues raised at the exhibition had been the design and lack of car parking.
“The scheme has had a couple of alterations over the past three or four months to make sure it works on all levels,” he said.
