Today Parliament has been dissolved.

Candidates for the General Election of 2015 have begun campaigning for seats in every corner of the UK ahead of polling day on May 7.

The Harwich and North Essex constituency is considered a safe seat for the Conservatives - at the 2010 General Election, Bernard Jenkin won with a majority of 11,447.

The MP of 23 years is standing for the Harwich and North Essex seat again.

But it is all change for the other three parties so far declared to contest the seat.

Mark Hughes, a former mayor and councillor in Royston, is standing for Ukip, Edward Carlsson- Browne is standing for Labour, and Dominic Graham is standing for the Liberal Democrats in the constituency, which covers Harwich, West Mersea, Brightlingsea, Wivenhoe, Manningtree, Aldham and Chappel.

  • In the South Suffolk constituency, Tim Yeo has held the seat for the Conservatives since 1983.

But the stalwart, whose roles have included being minister for the environment and shadow secretary of education and health will not be standing in the 2015 election.

Declared candidates for the South Suffolk constituency so far are Steven Whalley (Ukip), Grace Weaver (Lib Dems), Jane Basham (Lab), James Cartlidge (Con) and Robert Lindsay (Green).

  • In Tendring, there will also be both district and parish council elections on May 7.

Candidates have not yet been revealed for all the seats.

In 2011, the Conservatives took control with a clear majority for the first time since 1987.
