A NEW seafront cafe hosted two charity days as part of its launch week.

The Rainbow Cafe, in Wick Lane, Dovercourt, is offering a range of light bites, snacks and desserts on the town’s seafront.

Co-owners Allyson Kirk and Karen Rose have converted the former convenience store and got an alcohol licence for the building.

Diners will be free to eatin or takeaway following the official launch on Friday, and the cafe has signed up to the Cake Escape scheme, which rewards cyclists who visit specific eateries across Essex.

Mrs Kirk said: “The first weekend was so busy that we even thought about not opening on Monday, because we were so worn out.

“It has been a fantastic start and we have seen lots of cyclists stop on their route to come in and have a slice of cake or something else to eat.

“We plan to have a specials boards with meals on everyday along with things like jacket potatoes and panninis.”
