A SEA Scout group has asked a council for more land to house its new minibus.
The 4th Dovercourt Scout group has asked Tendring Council for a new lease for a small piece of land next to their Barrack Lane base in Harwich.
The group wants to use the land to build a garage and compound to store equipment and its new minibus.
Earlier this year, the group received £6,808 from the Big Lottery Fund to go towards the project at its Navigator House headquarters.
The land is currently undeveloped. Tendring Council’s cabinet is set to decide on whether to grant the lease at a meeting today.
The group already has planning permission to build the garage, which will allow the bus to be kept locked away.
A report which will go before cabinet members said: “If no lease were granted, then the Sea Scouts would have nowhere to keep their minibus, making it vulnerable to vandalism and theft.”
