CHARITY walkers will be stepping out between Harwich and Manningtree again this year.

The Mayflower Walk, along 14 miles of the Essex Way footpath, is organised every year by the Rotary Club of Manningtree Stour Valley and has raised more than £80,000 so far.

This year, it takes place on May 31.

Rail company Abellio Greater Anglia is again offering walkers free travel to Harwich on its Mayflower Line on the day.

David Willis, president of the Rotary Club said: “We are very grateful to all the ‘regulars’ who take part in the walk every year and trust that many others will join them this time.

“Just taking part in the walk along its lovely riverside route is a great day out, but we hope participants will also get their friends and family to sponsor them.

“This will enable them to raise money for their own favourite charity, as well as contributing to the many local and national good causes supported by Manningtree Rotarians.“
