HARWICH is now home to the only Labour district councillors in Tendring, but the remaining four have vowed to continue to fight for their local causes.

At last Friday’s district council election count, the Labour Party only saw four out of nine councillors re-elected.

They are heavily outnumbered on the 60-seat Tendring Council.

But Tendring Labour Party leader Ivan Henderson said while it would be tough, they would not stop pushing for what Harwich needed.

“I’m really disappointed we have lost some very good councillors,” he said.

“It will, of course, be hard. Obviously, it weakened us, but I feel even with four, knowing the people I’ve got with me, they are still a powerful active voice."
