SCHOOLCHILDREN held their own election voting for free school trips and no Ofsted inspections.

Year six students at Wix and Wrabness Primary School researched education policies of political parties before choosing who to represent.

The spokesman for each party, Green, Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrats and Ukip, then gave speeches in the school assembly outling their policy.

They then went on to campaign during lunch and playtimes.

When the nation went to the polls for the General and Local Elections, the school set up its very own polling station.

All the children and staff, who had been registered to vote, were given ballot papers.

The Green Party won a decisive victory with 54 votes – 64per cent of the school electorate.
