VILLAGERS packed a community hall to hit out at plans for 71 homes on a field currently home to horses.

Developer, Thorn Park, hopes to build on land currently used by Harwich Horse Rangers close by to Two Village Primary School.

But at a public meeting, organised by Ramsey and Parkeston Parish Council, residents raised major concerns about child safety, traffic and capacity of the nearby school.

Council chairman George Elmer told villagers at the War Memorial hall it was still an outline plan yet to be approved, but agreed it could not go forward in its current state.

Villager Jean Abbott said: “We live opposite the proposed new exit and we already take our lives in our hands coming out that driveway.

“They shoot through there and already it’s dangerous, the lane just is not suitable for any more traffic.”

Along with concerns that the nearby Two Village Primary school is already full, many were worried about the safety of the children on an already busy road.

Tendring councillor for Ramsey Tanya Ferguson was present at the meeting and acknowledged that she would raise the concerns with the planning committee.

Tendring Council has final say on the plans.
