CUSTOMS custody suites, including those at Harwich International Port, have improved significantly since their last inspection, according to a prison boss.
Inspections were carried out of Border Force customs custody suites which included spine suites – normal custody areas but with cells – at the port.
People detained by Border Force are usually suspected of hiding illegal drugs.
Chief inspector of prisons Nick Hardwick said: “Overall, Border Force demonstrated significant progress in all areas that we inspected.
“This report provides a small number of recommendations. We expect an action plan to be provided in due course.”
