A RETIRING parish clerk has been praised for his 13 years of hard work.

David Thurlow, 65, will retire from his post at Lawford Parish Council in the next two weeks.

At the last meeting of the council on Monday, chairman Dave Ashley paid tribute to Mr Thurlow.

He said: “I would like to say a huge thanks from myself and previous chairmen Alan Coley and Brian Rolfe for all your work.

“You have always done especially well on the grants side of things and you have saved us a lot of money over the years.

“Thank you very much.”

Mr Thurlow said: “I have really enjoyed my time here and I hope that I have helped to bring one or two improvements to the village in that time.

“I would like to thank all the councillors past and present and the chairmen for the support they have given me in the past.”

The council’s new clerk is Pat Peachey.
