A HIGH street bank is set to close by the end of the year because of dwindling transactions.

NatWest, in Manningtree High Street, will shut its doors on November 30 after statistics showed numbers had dropped by 34 per cent since 2011 and only 56 customers used the bank on a weekly basis.

Than bank has been operating since the 1960s and customers are being contacted in order to inform them about the impending closure.

A new ATMwill be installed in Fiveways so people are able to check their balance, deposit and withdraw funds.

Spokesman Debbie Phillips said: “We have taken the difficult decision to close the NatWest Manningtree branch on the November 30.

“We are working hard to ensure there are a number of alternative ways for people in the area to continue to bank with us.”
