A MISTLEY shop owner has had plans to build two bungalows behind their convenience store rejected.
The application was put forward for the site at Tara Traders, in Harwich Road.
The two two-bedroom homes would have been built in the current garden for the owners and their son to live in following retirement, complete with two parking spaces.
Mistley Parish Council objected to the proposal on the grounds of over development of the site, inadequate access, the fact it is surrounded on all sides by homes and being out of character with the area.
Tendring Council refused the scheme as it was backland development which would be out of character and would cause an unreasonable loss of amenity to existing properties.
