A MAN has been jailed after strangling and threatening to kill his wife.

Hans Marbus, 44, of Queensway, Lawford, was sentenced to nine months for assault occasioning actual bodily harm when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Marbus attacked her on November 14.

The court heard he got drunk and pushed her against a cabinet before grabbing her throat and shouting 'I am going to kill you'."

Judge Christopher Morgan said: "She complained of extensive bruising to her back, other bruises where you kneed and pinned her to the floor.

"She complained you put both hands around her neck and began to strangle her.

"This was a significant assault on your wife."

Marbus was also given a restraining order banning him from contact with his now former partner.

He admitted the attack.
