A CONTROVERSIAL move to scrap free black bin bags has finally been rubber-stamped.

Tendring Council decided to axe deliveries to 68,000 homes in a bid to save £155,000 this year.

But opposition leaders demanded a review by the council’s scrutiny committee.

Environment boss Michael Talbot said it was difficult to justify not axing the black sacks in the face of massive cuts to the council’s government grant.

Speaking at a meeting of the cabinet on Friday, Mr Talbot said no new matters were raised by the committee that had not already been considered and he was sticking with the previous decision.
