A PARKINSON’S sufferer is preparing to take a leap of faith as part of his mission to fight the disease .

Steve Brennan, 45, will throw himself out of a plane for Parkinson’s UK for a second time since he was diagnosed in 2013.

He is aiming to raise £10,000 for the charity throughout 2016 and has double the incentive, having witnessed his mother battle the same dis- ease he now faces.

There is currently no cure for Parkinson ’s.

Steve, who lives in Burr Close, in Ramsey, said: “I was devastated when I was diagnosed, especially as my mum is now in the later stages of Parkinson’s and I have seen her deteriorate .

“But after a while I decided to look towards the future with a more positi ve outlook and this challenge is part of that.”

He added: “Life with Parkinson’s is not all a bed of roses .

“I have my good days and I have my bad days but overall I have to stay positive for my own sanity.”

Steve has also recruited friends and family to join him in various challenges in 2016, including a London to Brighton cycle and quiz nights .

He raised £2,000 for Parkinson’s UK through a sponsored skydive in 2013 and he is hoping to raise a similar amount the second time around.

He added: “If we can raise enough funds towards research to eventually cure this terrible condition, and give back the opportunities that Parkinson ’s takes away from thousands of people every year, including myself, then I would gladly jump out of a plane every day. ”

Paul Jackson-Clark, director of fundraising at Parkinson’s UK has given his thanks to the fundraiser .

He said: “I would like to say thank you and good luck to Steve in his fundraising efforts this year.”

He added: “Everyone who takes part in a skydive will be helping ourwork tofindacure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.”

Steve will take part in Skydive Cambridgeshire on Saturday, June 25, at Chatteris Airfield, weather permitting.
