POLICE are appealing for information after a cat was shot and killed in a sickening incident in Great Bentley.

Roger, who had been a much loved family pet for 15 years, was shot outside a property in Wick Road.

CCTV of the incident shows the cat convulsing after being shot. A purpose-built lamping vehicle, believed to be a Kubota, then pulled up and two people got out.

The video shows one of the them stamping on the cat, before picking up his body and throwing him in a nearby field.

Officers suspect that Roger was shot with a .22 rifle, or a similar weapon.

Investigating officer PC Rebecca Hanlon said: "This is a sickening incident where an innocent family pet has been killed.

"I'm appealing for anyone who has any information to get in touch so that I can bring those responsible to justice."

The horrifying incident happened at 11.30pm on April 20. Details have only just been released.
