UKIP regained the vacant Tendring Council seat in Clacton's St Paul's ward last night, with Labour trailing in fourth place.
Jack Parsons claimed victory in yestrday's by-election, more than 100 votes ahead of second-placed Conservative Danny Mayzes.
Independent William Hones came third, ahead of Labour's Chris Bird.
The by-election was triggered by the resignation of Ukip councillor John Mooney, who is emigrating. Turnout was 33 per cent.
