YOUNG entrepreneurs have raised enough money for a once-in-a-lifetime expedition to China.
A group of 12 sixth-form students at Harwich and Dovercourt Sixth Form have successfully raised £1,400 each to take the trip.
They raised the money through a host of events over the past year, including cake sales, rugby tournaments, bag-packing at supermarkets and a Chinese-themed quiz.
The teenagers are set to land in Beijing on July 2, after which they will walk the Great Wall of China, visit the Temple of Heaven and take in Tiananmen Square.
They will also visit Beijing Zoo to learn about the conservation work that goes towards helping the endangered pandas.
Philippa Parks, head of sixth-form, said: “The fundraising has taught them valuable life skills such as gaining confidence, improving communication and organisational skills, learning about personal responsibility and practising their financial skills.”
