A PENSIONER has died after a serious crash on the A120.

It happened at about 1.30am this morning in the Great Bromley area, near the slip road leading to the A133.

Two cars were involved - a silver Ford C-MAX and a black Skoda Octavia -  and both were left badly damaged in the collision.

Essex Police has confirmed a 72 year-old man died in the incident.

A woman aged in her 70s and a man aged in his 20s were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The crash left debris across the dual carriageway, which was closed overnight as officers investigated.

Some cars got through before the road was closed and were left queued up until about 4am.

The road re-opened fully at about 8.50am this morning once it had been cleared.
