FRIENDS of a much-loved mother who was found dead on a beach last year will host a charity disco to celebrate her life.

Jane Cattermole, 46, of East Street, Dovercourt, was found on the beach close to Stone Pier on September 18.

A year on from her death, close friends and family will throw a party at her favourite pub to raise money for mental health charity MIND.

Joann Krisman and Joanne Harfield, owners of the King’s Arms, in High Street, said they wo uld be honoured to host the event, which was the idea of Jane’ s ex-husband Stephen.

“Jane was such a lovely lady.

She had her own troubles but was always happy to help every one else around her,” said Joann.

“We miss her and her bubbly personality so much.

“The party came about from a discussion with Jane’s ex-husband Stephen Cattermole, who came up with the idea to help their sons, Michael and Jon, celebrate their mum’s life on the first anniversary of her death.

“She is missed by every one in the King’s Arms and every one who knew her.

“We are expecting a lot of her friends to turn out.

"She was very popular and she loved the King’s.

“She had such a kind heart and when she wasn’t down herself, she had time and good advice for everyone.”

The disco will take place at 8pm on September 17.

The evening will be a celebration of Jane’s life, featuring dancing, karaoke, food and drink.

All money raised from the evening will all go to MIND, which provides advice and support to people experiencing mental health problems.

Police initially treated Jane’s death as unexplained, but not suspicious, and handed over the case to the Essex coroner.

An inquest into Jane’s death recorded an open verdict.

Joann said: “When we took over the King’s Arms, Jane was one of the first to walk in to introduce herself.

“She was such a big character and she would help absolutely anyone if she could.

“She really was one of the most generous, kind and caring people we have ever met.”
