A LIVE screening of a modern twist on a Shakespearian classic is taking place in Harwich's Electric Palace cinema.

Daniel Radcliffe, Joshua McGuire, and David Haig star in Tom Stoppard’s brilliantly funny situation comedy, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, which will be broadcast live from The Old Vic theatre in London.

The play is set against the backdrop of Hamlet and tells the tale through the eyes of two hapless minor characters called Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.

Against the backdrop of Hamlet, two unlucky characters named Rosencrantz and Guildenstern take centre stage.

As the young double act stumble their way in and out of the action of Shakespeare’s iconic drama, they become increasingly out of their depth as their version of the story unfolds.

The new production marks the 50th anniversary of the play that made Tom Stoppard’s name an overnight success.

The play has been recorded during a performance at The Old Vic theatre in London and will be shown at 7pm on Thursday, May 4, at the Electric Palace in King’s Head Street.

Tickets cost £12.50 and can be booked at electricpalace.com.
