A SPECIAL event to bring residents closer together and tackle anti-social behaviour is set to be hosted in Dovercourt.

Tendring Council’s housing department is hoping to hold the event on August 9 in a bid to improve feelings in an area plagued with anti-social behaviour.

Council staff gave a presentation about the event set for Grange Road at Harwich Town Council last week.

They said the hope is to encourage community spirit in an area which has recently suffered from various reports of antisocial behaviour.

A Tendring Council spokesman said: “We really want to try and foster a community spirit, bring people together and hopefully tackle any antisocial behavioural issues.

“We really want to try and create a family event and we are going to promote it as a walk to event for residents.”

For the summer event there will be representatives from the police, fire brigade, neighbourhood watch scheme, NHS and Tendring Council.

The representatives will run activities for children and will also be hand to speak with residents about any community questions they have.

Entertainment will also be carried out throughout the day for children with a bouncy castle and dance group.
