A HUGE street party and mass parade are being organised to mark the end of the First World War.

Manningtree and District Royal British Legion will host the Great Street Party next year as part of the centenary commemorations.

But there will also be a living 100 year timeline of Manningtree along the High Street.

It will see members of the community act out key moments in the town’s history over the past 100 years.

Sharon and Jamie Robinson, from the Manningtree Royal British Legion, are behind the plans.

“It will be all along the High Street, it’s going to be a really good event involving the whole of the community.

“We’ve been thinking and planning this for over a year now.

“We are going to have a display of memorabilia so if anyone has any memorabilia about our local area over the years it would be great.”

The event will be held on November 11, 2018, and include a mass parade to the war memorial.

“It will be a fantastic community event the likes of which has never been done before,” Sharon added.

“We look forward to working together to make this family friendly event the best the town has had.”
