DOZENS of performing pooches and their owners helped raised thousands of pounds for a centre which helps adults with learning disabilities.
Acorn Village in Clacton Road, Mistley, hosted its fifth dog show over the weekend which saw canines competing in a range of classes for prizes.
Hundreds of people came to watch the competition which included classes for the perfect pup, golden oldie, best rescue and waggiest tail.
The event raised an impressive £4,000 for the residential care home for adults with learning disabilities through the show, it’s stalls, a vintage car display, a tombola, and a petting farm.
Kate Williams, marketing coordinator, said: “This has been a fun event for everyone in the community, some of our residents and tenants are involved in the set-up, on the day and helping afterwards.
“Highcliff vet judge Tom and assistant judge Sarah were particularly great this year and even carried on in the downpour with non-stop smiles.”
“Acorn’s choice class is always a favourite, but the highlight had to be the public spirit, such a friendly atmosphere with such well-behaved dogs and a real sense of community.
“The weather was less kind than other years but it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has supported adults with learning disabilities and especially to all of the volunteers and sponsors.
“The event couldn’t happen without them.”
