A HOSPICE which is gearing up for its annual charity bicycle ride has announced four completely new routes.

Cyclists, who will set off from Monks Farm, Dedham, for the fundraiser, can choose from ten, 25, 50, or 75-mile routes, depending on the challenge they want to take on.

The routes have been reworked and now wind their way through areas served by hospice staff across north Essex. Whether supporters are avid riders, fair weather cyclists or a family looking to enjoy a leisurely pace, the range of routes offers something to suit everyone.

Wendy Marcon, events manager at St Helena Hospice, said: “We’re very excited that the Cycle Ride routes have completely changed this year. We still start and finish in Dedham, but the routes now remain in north Essex.

“We felt it was time for a refresh, and we now provide a fabulous cycle ride featuring some stunning scenery through the beautiful Colne Valley.”

Registration is now open at £25 for adults and £15 for children, with the same price applying for all routes. There are group and family registration discounts.

Pre-registration will close on Thursday, October 5, at midday, but entries will be taken on the day of the event.

The Cycle Ride will take place on Sunday, October 8, and each route will start at different times.

The new routes require around 100 marshals to ensure safety on the roads for participants.

Anyone who would be willing to volunteer as a marshal should contact events@sthelenahospice.org.uk.

Cyclists can register online at sthelenahospice.org.uk/cycleride17 or by calling the events team on 01206 931468.
