RESIDENTS with a splash of creativity are being invited to an additional design workshop to make fish bunting for a public art project.

Following the success of its first workshop last month, the Harwich Festival is hosting an extra design workshop for people to get involved with the first of its planned public art projects for next year’s festival.

The project, named Fishy Business, needs artistic residents to bring some scraps of fabric, some wadding and two buttons to create fabric fish bunting. The decorations for the fish can be as bright, colourful, simple or intricate as possible.

The Harwich Festival is hosting the free design workshop at Harwich Library, on Saturday, February 10, 10.30am until noon.

But people can also take part by donating brightly coloured fabric, wadding and buttons at the Harwich Box Office at Harwich Library.

Harwich Festival general manager Michael Offord said: “The first workshop was well attended and a number of people contacted us to say that they were busy on that date and were disappointed that they could not take part.

“We really do want as many people as possible to join in and so have decided to run another workshop in February.

“We also have some printed templates and instructions that can be collected from the Harwich Box Office.”

Templates and instructions are available now from the Harwich Box Office and completed fish can be dropped off at the Harwich Box Office between February 1 and June 1.

They will then be displayed in various locations throughout the Harwich Festival between June 21 and July 21.
