HUNDREDS of residents raised a glass to a pub's second beer festival.

The Maybush Inn, in Great Oakley, held a three-day beer and ale festival over the weekend for locals to enjoy.

The event was held to mark the second anniversary of the opening of the voluntarily-run country pub.

The pub faced closure in 2015, but campaigners rallied round and raised £86,110 to obtain a mortgage and buy the building.

Residents received the keys in February 2016 and the pub reopened its doors.

Following the success of last year’s festival, the pub had 18 quality ales from 12 different local and national brewers.

There were also five real ales as the event.

Mark Godfrey, chairman of Great Oakley Community Hub, said: "Hundreds of people came to our second anniversary beer festival over the weekend.

"It was a very busy event all weekend, especially on Friday and Saturday.

"People enjoyed it last year as it was very successful and the did this year too.

"One of the things they seem to like is that the pub is run on a voluntary basis.

"I hope to make it an annual event and hold another this time next year for everyone as it is a good way to celebrate the pub's birthday."
