A FLOCK of angels is hosting a fitness fiesta to help a mum with an incurable neurological condition.

Harwich Angels, a local events group, is hoping more people will sign up to an eight-hour fitness fiesta to raise money for Tracy Wells.

Tracy, from Harwich, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis four years ago.

Multiple sclerosis is a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord where the coating that protects the nerves is damaged, and this causes a range of symptoms.

Once diagnosed, it stays for life, but treatments and specialists can help people to manage the condition.

Last year the 38-year-old lost all her mobility and was in hospital for long lengths of time and she is now wheelchair reliant.

To raise the money to fund neurophysiology and rehabilitation to help Tracy bear weight again, the Angels will be riding, rowing and running 1,000 miles on Easter Sunday for eight hours.

The event, organised by the charitable group and the Royal Oak, in Dovercourt, will have six fitness machines for sponsored volunteers to cover the mileage.

Andrea King, Harwich Angels organiser, said: “We will all be taking it in turns to take part over eight hours. We are asking anyone who wants to take part to gain sponsorship or they can turn up on the day and pledge £1 per mile to take part.

“Children and adults are both welcome to join in.”

Harwich Angels are also hosting a barbecue, disco, stalls and a bouncy castle for children.

Andrea said they are hoping to raise £1,500 from the event.

She added: “We need as many people as possible to take part and at the minute, we have had about 40 people sign up.”
